Taika Waititi admits having "no interest" in directing Thor: Ragnarok initially.

The filmmaker reveals financial reasons and family needs led him to helm the Thor movies.

Waititi acknowledges Thor as the "least popular franchise" before he took on the directorial role.

Despite not being a fan of Thor comics, Waititi did research and found the character intriguing.

Waititi believes he was approached to direct Thor because the franchise had reached a challenging point.

Fans initially disliked his involvement, feeling it signaled a low point for the Thor series.

The director expresses no current plans to return to the Thor franchise in the near future.

Concentrating on other signed projects, Waititi expects to be busy for several years.

While he loves Marvel and working with them, Waititi supports the idea of another Thor installment without him.

Waititi humorously likens his relationship with Marvel to an "open relationship" and encourages them to explore new directors.

Despite stepping back, Waititi remains open to returning to the Marvel universe in the future.
