The Dallas Mavericks have signed former South Carolina Gamecocks forward Chris Silva to a 10-day contract.

With injuries to Maxi Kleiber and Christian Wood, the Dallas Mavericks are taking steps to strengthen their roster.

Silva began the season playing with the Atlanta Hawks' G League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks.

With the Skyhawks, he averaged 14.2 points on 58.6% shooting, 7.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.9 blocks and 22.4 minutes in 11 regular-season games with 10 starts.

Silva probably won't see much time on the floor early in his time with the Mavericks.Dallas just needs big men who can operate in the NBA until Wood returns.

Silva played four years for the University of South Carolina, scoring 15.2 points per game as a senior in 2018-19.

Current Mavericks two-way player AJ Lawson was Silva's teammate at South Carolina in 2018-19.

Silva signed a two-way contract with the Miami Heat in 2019–20. He also played for the Sacramento Kings and Minnesota Timberwolves.

On March 25, 2021, Silva and Maurice Harkless were traded to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Nemanja Bjelica.
