Third Shark attack in New Caledonia

According to the resources, The tourist from Australia was swimming close to a pontoon when the shark attack took place on Sunday afternoon.

The place where incident took place was about 500 feet from the popular Château Royal beach in the capital, Nouméa.

The shark had bitten the man several times in his legs and arms, later on he was taken by nearby Jet Skiers.

Once brought to the shore, the man was given CPR performed by paramedics and attempted to resuscitate him but faild as the man died.

In the last three weeks, two similar incidents happened. In the same area a swimmer and a surfer were attacked.

The Florida Museum has around 19 documentations of confirmed unprovoked Shark Attacks since 1580.

Even though the archipelago has a huge population and is stretched over 750 miles, it is ranked 13th for shark attacks.

Sharks can also be provoked by human behaviour, such as food waste and feeding the fishes.

The beaches have been restricted for public and authorities are planning to reduce the number of sharks in the area.
