3 Dead and Five were Injured in Michigan State University Shooting

In Michigan State University’s East Lansing Campus three people were shot dead and at least five have been found injured due to shooting at few locations on Monday night as per police. Apart from this one suspect has even died due to self inflicted gunshot.

The MSU Police and Public Safety said during a press briefing that the victims have been transported to a hospital as some even have life threatening injuries.

The Hospital authorities including Director John Foren has confirmed that they received 5 patients after shooting. The Director of Sparrow Hospital Communications also said that there is no update regarding any more patients and that they are not expecting patients from the incidence anymore.

Public Safety Interim Deputy Chief Chris Rozman and MSU Police said that initially they got 911 calls and they also located “several” victims at the Berkey Hall after the calls regarding shots at 8:18 p.m. Later they further received other calls and victims were found in MSU Union building. 

Police predict that the suspect was last seen leaving the building on foot and that there’s only one suspected gunman. They have also released his photo on Monday night. 

“The suspect is believed to be on foot right now,” the MSU Police and Public Safety department had tweeted. “Community members on and off campus should continue to shelter in place. Police are continuing to respond.”

The places like “Brody Hall, Snyder/Phillips Hall, Mason Hall, Abbot Hall, Landon Hall, the MSU Union and Berkey Hall all have been cleared and victims have been transported to Sparrow Hospital. They initially said there were “multiple reported injuries” at IM East, a fitness center on campus. 

“The shooter is still at large. Police are active on the scene. Community members on and off campus should shelter in place immediately,” the city said.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said she has been briefed on the shooting, tweeting: “The Michigan State Police along with @msupolice, local law enforcement and first responders are on the ground. Let’s wrap our arms around the Spartan community tonight. We will keep everyone updated as we learn more.”
