US President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, has offered a guilty plea to two misdemeanour crimes related to tax payment delays in a federal court. Additionally, he has agreed to acknowledge the illegal possession of a gun while being a drug user.

Last month, a plea deal was announced, potentially keeping the US first son out of jail. Notably, this marks the first time the child of a sitting president has faced charges from the justice department.

The case stems from a five-year investigation into Hunter Biden’s finances, which culminated in the court hearing in Wilmington, Delaware.

While the misdemeanour tax charges are relatively minor, congressional Republicans have introduced more serious allegations against Hunter Biden in committee hearings. They claim that he is receiving special treatment due to his father’s position as president.
