A member staff of the office of Republican Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul was “brutally attacked” in Washington D.C.
His office confirmed the attack and said in a statement that his staff member was brutally attacked on the streets of Washington, D.C last weekend. Further, he added asking people to join in praying for the speedy recovery of staff and also thanked the hospital staff, police, and first responders for their work.
He also mentioned that the suspect has been arrested and that he wants to focus on the healing and recovery of everyone and ask for privacy.
An adult male victim who was attacked and survived life-threatening injuries has not been identified yet and Paul’s office hasn’t confirmed the identity as per the information given through a press release by Washington, D. C. Metropolitan Police.
Sen. Paul was attacked in 2017 by a neighbor who suffered from broken ribs and a fracture and was in a critical situation with blood and fluid around the lungs.
A man was already charged with assaulting Paul’s near Police officer but later dropped while Paul and his wife were also attacked during Donald Trump’s 2020 Convention acceptance speech at the White House when they both were heading back to the hotel.
Randal Paul American physician and politician has been serving the United States since 2011. An ophthalmologist by profession, Paul contested the Senate election in 2010. He later was re-elected in 2016 and won it again in 2022.
The statement so released states that a man was arrested. He is 42 years old and was arrested on the basis of assault for the offense of intention to kill with a knife. This incident had occurred on the 13000 block of H Street, NE, less than 1.5 miles from the capitol.
This suggests that there has been a rise in Washington D.C., crimes which include an increase in murders that hit 200 murders for the first time since 2003.
