Trump Fundraiser in Las Vegas to Bridge Campaign Funding Gap with Biden Ahead of 2024 Election

Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for the upcoming presidential election, has a fundraiser lined up in Las Vegas this June. He’s aiming to bridge the funding gap with President Joe Biden ahead of their November showdown. The event, set for June 8, will be hosted by Don Ahern, a prominent businessman from Ahern Rentals Inc. Other notable hosts include Shane McFarland, who manages the Ahern Luxury Boutique Hotel, and Pauline Lee, president of the Nevada Republican Club.

Tickets for this fundraising event vary greatly in price, starting at $1,000 for a basic entry. At the higher end, couples can pay $844,600 for a “Team 47” ticket, the maximum donation to Trump’s joint fundraising entity with the Republican Party.

Trump’s campaign is making a concerted effort to woo wealthy donors. He’s trailing behind Biden in the fundraising race and needs the extra boost. A recent event hosted by billionaire John Paulson pulled in over $50 million. This week, Trump is hosting a retreat in Palm Beach, Florida, where he’s expected to meet with key Republicans, some of whom are considered potential vice-presidential picks. In a strategic move, he recently met with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a former primary rival, to discuss tapping into his donor network.

Trump’s legal battles have been costly, impacting his campaign’s financial health. The ongoing criminal trial in Manhattan related to hush-money payments has required significant legal resources. Meanwhile, Biden and the Democratic Party have been building a substantial war chest, with a combined $192 million in cash on hand, while Trump’s side has just $93.1 million.

Nevada is expected to play a pivotal role in the 2024 election as a swing state. Biden narrowly won Nevada in 2020, but a recent poll by Bloomberg News/Morning Consult shows Trump leading with 51% support to Biden’s 43%. The Las Vegas fundraiser could be critical for Trump as he looks to secure more funds and sway the balance in key battleground states.
