Orelvis Martinez, the promising infield prospect of the Toronto Blue Jays, wasted no time making an impact at the triple-A level with the Buffalo Bisons.

In just his second at-bat since joining the top minor league, the 21-year-old Martinez showcased his prowess by launching a two-run homer off Syracuse Mets starter Tylor Megill in the third inning on Tuesday.

Martinez, batting sixth and playing third base, recorded his only hit of the night with the two-run homer. He finished the game 1-for-5 at the plate with one strikeout. The Bisons secured a convincing 13-4 victory, improving their overall record to 43-47.

Having been promoted from double-A New Hampshire just the day before, Martinez demonstrated why he is regarded as the Blue Jays’ No. 4-ranked prospect. During his time with double-A New Hampshire, he displayed impressive statistics, slashing .226/.339/.485 with 17 home runs and 46 RBIs in 70 games.

Notably, Martinez’s numbers have improved across the board compared to the previous year, highlighting his development and potential as a standout player in the Blue Jays organization.
