Chippewa Hills Boys Enjoy Rare District Basketball Tournament Game Victory

Tuesday at home against Gladwin (5-16), the Chippewa Hills boys basketball team (2-19) held on to win 54-52 and advance to the Division 2 district first round. According to the coaching staff, it was just the second victory in a district game for the Chippewa Hills boys basketball team since 1991.

The game was moved from Monday due to inclement weather. The Warriors defeated Lakeview 53-51 in their season opener in December before losing 19 in a row.

A district semi-final game between Chippewa Hills and Clare (18-2) will take place at Chippewa Hills on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

“It feels great to win a district. It’s a game we were looking forward to and a game we knew we could win. We came in and executed what we needed to. It feels good.”

With three minutes remaining, Jones made two free throws to level the score at 50-50. The Warriors now lead 52-50 thanks to free throws from Jones and Scott Miller. However, both sides committed turnovers, making the game open to anyone.
