The New York Giants are making steady progress signing their 2024 draft picks. This week, cornerback Andru Phillips, selected in the third round, put pen to paper on his rookie contract.
Phillips joins wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. as the early signings for the Giants. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound defensive back is expected to compete for the nickel cornerback position, his preferred role. This move could push Cor’Dale Flott to the outside cornerback spot.
“Nickel corner is definitely my preference,” Phillips told reporters during rookie minicamp. “That’s where I thrived at Kentucky. Once I got the chance to play it full-time in my junior year, I embraced it. It felt like the perfect fit for my skillset. I continued developing in that role, and that’s where I see myself contributing here with the Giants.”

According to Art Stapleton of USA TODAY, Phillips’ rookie contract is a four-year deal worth approximately $6 million.
With Phillips signed, the Giants have three remaining rookies to finalize contracts: safety Tyler Nubin, tight end Theo Johnson, and linebacker Darius Muasau.
