MVP odds for Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterback Joe Burrow have undergone significant changes after six weeks of football. Burrow’s preseason odds, initially around +750, have now shifted to +2800, according to ESPN.

In light of this transformation, Courtney Cronin of ESPN highlighted Burrow’s performance during the 2023 season. A lingering right calf injury had impacted Burrow’s effectiveness over the first six weeks. Consequently, the Bengals faced challenges in scoring touchdowns, recording two losses and an average of under 17 points per game. Burrow struggled to connect on deep passes with Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, resulting in a drop in his yards per attempt from 7.4 (a top-10 ranking last season) to 5.3 (the worst among quarterbacks who have started at least two games in 2023).

While Burrow’s chances have diminished due to a challenging start, it doesn’t eliminate the possibility of him claiming the NFL MVP trophy by season’s end. With Burrow’s recovery nearing completion, coupled with a week off to further recuperate, he could return to the dominant form that initially positioned him as a favorite for the award.

Although considered a long shot, Burrow could navigate the Bengals’ demanding schedule, produce impressive statistics, and secure another winning record in the AFC North. The NFL season is lengthy, with Cincinnati still having 11 games ahead. As the Bengals’ offense has demonstrated in the past, unforeseen developments can unfold during this time.
