New York Jets Win, But Lose Promising Rookie Offensive Lineman Joe Tippmann

In Week 6, the Jets scored a big win against the Philadelphia Eagles, but they might be dealing with a setback due to a possible injury to their rookie offensive lineman, Joe Tippmann.

Tippmann, who had recently moved into the starting lineup as the right guard, suffered a thigh injury during Sunday’s game. Head coach Robert Saleh is worried about how serious the injury might be, and Tippmann is set to undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the damage.

This injury could have a significant impact on the Jets’ offensive line. In Tippmann’s absence, Wes Schweitzer stepped in as the right guard. However, this created a situation where the Jets didn’t have backup interior offensive linemen available on Sunday. The only backup options were tackles Billy Turner and Carter Warren.

On a more positive note, the Jets do have Xavier Newman and Jason Poe on their practice squad, which offers some depth options.

Tippmann had been making good progress and settling into his role in the starting lineup after some important positional changes, like moving Mekhi Becton to left tackle and Alijah Vera-Tucker to right tackle. If Tippmann can’t play, Schweitzer will continue to have a crucial role on the right side, alongside Max Mitchell.
