The New York Mets edged out the Philadelphia Phillies 6-5 on Sunday, splitting their two-game series at London Stadium. While both teams enjoyed the experience of playing in Europe, players offered suggestions for future MLB visits to London.
One key point was the long break before the games. Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor felt two days off was excessive, proposing playing the next day upon arrival to maintain game sharpness.
However, Lindor acknowledged the series’ importance in growing baseball globally. He, along with Phillies slugger Bryce Harper, liked the idea of a mini-tournament with more teams, creating a bigger event with potentially five or six games.

This was MLB’s third London trip in five years, with another planned for 2026. A proposed Paris series for 2025 was cancelled.
Phillies manager Rob Thomson, despite the loss, expressed his enthusiasm for the London experience and would participate yearly if possible.
The series also sparked an unexpected interest. Mets infielder Jeff McNeil, captivated by the ongoing Cricket T20 World Cup, expressed a newfound appreciation for the sport, even jokingly considering himself a potential cricket player.
