The news that both Thomas Bryant and Dennis Schroder are Injured is true. The two recently acquired Lakers, suffered thumb injuries that required surgery this week.
German international point guard Schroder was injured in his first game back after arriving in Los Angeles later than anticipated due to visa issues. The medical team wasn’t initially certain if surgery would be part of his treatment plan. The fact that Bryant underwent surgery right away after suffering a thumb injury late in the preseason shows that he had a full rupture as compared to Schroder, whose thumb was only partially torn but still required surgery.
Despite the fact that no injury is ideal, the good news is that this injury and operation have excellent results, particularly in light of the current developments covered in the film. The Lakers also have a lot of guard depth, which will help offset the loss of Schroder, and they should have enough big-man depth to temporarily cover for Bryant’s absence.
The true impact will be on how this delays the pair’s return to game fitness and rhythm because Schroder didn’t play much in the second half of the previous season and Bryant was still recovering from his ACL surgery. Since this is an upper-body injury, they can still practise, but team cohesion and in-game conditioning cannot be replaced or duplicated.
Since it should go without saying that neither Schroder nor Bryant will be ready to play by the Nov 17 evaluation date, they will be unable to attend their respective teams’ games against the Sacramento Kings on Friday and the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday.
