Dalton, GA – A quick-thinking 10-year-old boy became an unlikely hero last week when he safely maneuvered a pickup truck towing a boat on Interstate 75 after his grandfather suffered a diabetic coma.

Drake Linn was riding with his grandfather, Hugh Cox, when the 68-year-old suddenly lost consciousness while driving. With his grandfather unresponsive, Drake took control of the vehicle, expertly guiding it to the side of the busy highway. The young boy then calmly called 911, providing crucial details about his location and grandfather’s condition.

Emergency responders arrived promptly and administered medical treatment to Cox, who is expected to make a full recovery. Local authorities have hailed Drake as a hero, awarding him with a Citizen Service Award for his extraordinary bravery and presence of mind.

“This kid is a hero, no doubt,” said Sheriff Mitch Ralston of the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office. “For him to pull that off was just amazing.”

Drake’s parents expressed immense pride in their son’s actions, crediting his experience driving farm vehicles for his ability to handle the stressful situation.

This harrowing incident serves as a reminder of the importance of medical preparedness and the incredible courage displayed by this young boy.
