The risk of Border crossing from Canada to New York, New Hampshire and Vermont

  • Border patrol of the sheriff’s office on the rescue operation due to migration.
  • People migrating are in danger of being frozen to death.
  • Migrations and border crossings happen maximum between Canada New York, Hampshire, Vermont, and New York. This also includes the longest international border of Alaska.
  • Considering the increased migration compared to previous years Cops demand more Border Patrol agents on various borders.

The number of migrations increase 10 times that last year and people are freezing to death

The local sheriff’s office is calling for the U.S. Border Patrol in New York and Canada for the growing crisis to be put to more manpower to be handled. There has been an increase in illegal border crossings as compared to the same time last year. This doesn’t just stop here but the border crossers are also at risk of freezing to death.

Between Canada and New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York there have been around 2000 migrations much more than compared to last year which accounted for 200 crossings. All this happened between Oct. 1 to Feb. 28.

The migrants from Mexico can travel to Canada and reunite with their families without visas ensuring that they don’t illegally cross into the U.S.

Earlier Clinton County New York Sheriff David assisted Border patrol and rescued 39 migrants, he said the department resources are being used while responding to the rural population of 80,000 which spreads about 30 miles of border with the Canadian province of Quebec. The migrants so rescued by the Sheriff’s department have clothes frozen to their bodies.

Rescuing children and women by Gumlaw:

Steps were taken by Customs and Border Protection by adding 25 agents to the area to deter migration. But this doesn’t seem to be enough as per locals. Two women stuck in an icy swamp were also rescued by Chief Todd Gumlaw. He also rendered them first aid and the women were treated in the hospital for frostbite and mild hypothermia.

“Preservation of human life is first and foremost with my department. We put [immigration status] to the back of our mind,” Gumlaw said.

The Champlain County resident said that the residents are scared and they fear the unknown they are worried for their neighbors and the safety of their known people. Some people like one of the residents in Mooers have saved up for cameras to be installed for migrants. Further, she says “It’s not something I would usually do,” she said. “But it makes me think twice. And with the kids and the family, I gotta install cameras.”

The southern U.S. border has frequently been prohibited from crossing by many Mexicans who believe that they will fly easier to Canada and then the U.S. from the north. The  northern border crossing migrants account to 67% more than all eight sectors in February.

Need for increase in Patrol Agents:

The patrol agents are responsible for 2000 miles and over 16000 agents are responsible out of which the 5000-mile border between Alaska’s land boundaries makes it the longest border in the world which is covered by 2000 patrol agents.

“Over the last few months, the State of New Hampshire has attempted to assist the federal government in securing our northern border. These offers of assistance have been repeatedly rejected. The Biden administration has cut funding and hindered the state’s ability to assist in patrolling the northern border,” Sununu said.
