Maria Libri had interviewed Kattan in Springfield, Illinois, when he was on tour for a comedy show more than a year and a half ago.
She said they were immediately comfortable with each other, and it was like they had known each other in a past life. Libri said she knew her life would never be the same after meeting Kattan, describing their connection as mystical and magical.

The proposal happened at a Wilco concert in Chicago last month. Kattan announced the news via Instagram by sharing a series of photos of the proposal, thanking Wilco and Jeff Tweedy, the band’s lead singer, for making the moment possible.
Kattan and Libri made it official on Instagram in February 2022, and the couple has been inseparable ever since.
Quirks and Differences Embraced
Kattan told PEOPLE that he and Libri fully accept each other for who they are, quirks and all. “It’s not just the things we have in common; we also embrace our quirks and differences,” he said. He also said that their creative brains were in sync, which made him realize that he was in trouble.
Wilco Concert Proposal
Kattan shared a video of the proposal on Instagram, showing him popping the question mid-show. Tweedy stopped the concert as Kattan kneeled down and proposed to Libri, and the audience cheered as she said “yes.”
Tweedy played “I’m the Man Who Loves You,” one of Libri’s favorite songs, as the couple embraced on stage. SNL stars congratulated the couple in the comments, and Libri also confirmed the news to the Springfield Journal-Register.
Kattan, who was once a stand-up comedian, became a superstar on TV shows and films. He is best known for his work on Saturday Night Live, where he made a name for himself with his character “Mango,” and for his roles in the films A Night at the Roxbury and Corky Romano.
Libri is a former journalist turned screenwriter and actor. She is best known for her work on the web series “The Bionic Woman”.
