The tragic incident unfolded last night as Dex, aged 32, succumbed to an accidental drug overdose, as shared by Dana Carvey and his wife Paula Zwagerman in a joint statement on Thursday. The couple expressed their grief, reminiscing about Dex’s multifaceted talents in music, art, filmmaking, and comedy, which he pursued fervently throughout his 32 years.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed Dex’s passing at his residence on Wednesday.

Inheriting the comedic prowess of his father, Dex ventured into stand-up comedy, even opening for Dana Carvey’s 2016 Netflix special, “Dana Carvey: Straight White Male, 60.” Notably, his younger brother, Thomas Carvey, also played a role as a warm-up comedian in the special. Dex’s creative footprint extended to co-founding the Third Wheel Comedy Club in Los Angeles, as per his Instagram bio.
