Academy Award winner Emma Stone revealed her preference for using her real name, Emily, over her stage name Emma.

Though known professionally as Emma Stone, Stone’s real name, Emily Jean Stone, appears in the liner notes of Taylor Swift’s recent album “The Tortured Poets Department,” where she receives credit for “oddities” on the track “Florida!!!.”

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Stone discussed her name with co-star Nathan Fielder, who acknowledged her preference for Emily. Stone confirmed this, stating she uses Emily with close friends and colleagues. When asked by THR if she would correct fans who call her Emily, Stone replied, “No. That would be so nice. I would like to be Emily.”

Stone’s stage name originated from her childhood admiration for Spice Girl “Baby Spice,” Emma Bunton. However, she later discovered another actress had already claimed “Emily Stone” within the actors’ union, SAG-AFTRA. This is a common occurrence, leading many performers to adopt stage names. For instance, Michael Douglas adopted the name “Michael Keaton” due to another actor using his birth name.
