X, formerly recognized as Twitter, has reinstated Kanye West’s account after an approximate eight-month suspension due to policy infringement. The renowned musician and designer, now legally known as Ye, will not be allowed to monetize his X account, and his posts will remain devoid of advertisements, according to the company’s statement. Attempts to contact West or his representatives proved fruitless.

Last autumn, West shared an image on X that depicted a combination of a swastika and the Star of David, violating the platform’s rule against incitement to violence. Elon Musk, X’s owner, expressed his disapproval of the post.

The decision to reinstate West’s account was based on reassurances from him that he would refrain from sharing antisemitic or any other harmful content on the platform, as per a source familiar with the matter. As of Saturday afternoon, West had yet to make a tweet since regaining access to his account.

Earlier, Musk restored former President Donald Trump’s account on X after conducting a poll among the platform’s users. However, Trump has not made any posts from his account since then.

It is worth noting that West has faced criticism for making antisemitic remarks, leading to the termination of partnerships with major brands such as Adidas and Gap last year.

Furthermore, West had prior issues with the messaging app. Before Musk acquired the platform, the company had locked West’s account over an antisemitic tweet, which was considered a violation of its policies. The tweet, in part, suggested his intention to go “death con [sic] 3 on Jewish people.”

The account was eventually restored by X, but Musk clarified that it was done without consulting or informing him, as it took place before he acquired the company.
