Amid strikes by the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA, the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards face a postponement.

Variety broke the news on Thursday, revealing that vendors for the event were notified of the rescheduling, abandoning the original date of September 18th, which had been reserved by the TV Academy and Fox.

This marks the second time in history that the Emmys have been pushed back, with the first instances occurring in 2001 following the 9/11 attacks and later after military action in Afghanistan. In the past, the ceremony took place at the now-demolished Schubert Theatre in Century City.

The impact of the SAG strike was anticipated by Rolling Stone, and its effects are now being felt on the 2023 Emmys. Nominations for the prestigious award show were unveiled just before the strike’s commencement, leaving actors and talent with mixed emotions about their recognition. Should the strike persist into September, nominees may be unable to campaign for their performances and attend the event.

Sheryl Lee Ralph, who received a nomination for her role in Abbott Elementary, expressed her feelings to The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “We’re fighting for our art. We’re fighting for what we love, and what we know people love. We’re not big million-dollar companies. No, we’re people, and we want to enjoy what we do and make a living at it. That’s what this is about.”

The double Hollywood strike is raising concerns and causing significant disruptions in the entertainment industry. As the situation unfolds, the Emmys organizers and participants are closely monitoring developments and making adjustments accordingly.
