The actors are yet to confirm their identity as brothers with DNA tests. The pals who went to Greece together were sitting with families and discussing how close they both were while Mathew’s mom said “Woody, I knew your dad.” According to Mathew and Woody, this sentence intrigued them and he added in the show, ‘We went on to unpack what this “knew” meant, and did some math and found out that [Woody’s] dad was on furlough at the same time that my mom and dad were in their second divorce.”
They thought about it and realized that there might be possible places in Texas where they might have met, or been there for the “knew moment”.
The Interstellar star added in the podcast: ‘Look, it’s a little easier for Woody to say, “Come on, let’s do [DNA tests],” because what’s the skin in it for him?’

Woody’s father Charles passed away in prison 16 years ago from a heart attack and while Woody and Mathew were anticipating the situation he convinced Mathew to take a chance to check if they were brothers. To this Mathew reacted saying, “Wait a minute, you’re trying to tell me my dad may not be my dad after 53 years of believing that?” I got a little more skin in the game.”
Charles was sentenced to life in prison for a fatal shooting in 1979 in San Antonio Texas by Judge Wood Jr died at 69 in the cell. Woody Harrelson said “He is one of the most articulate, well-read charming people I’ve ever known”. “Still, I’m just now gauging whether he merits my loyalty or friendship. I look at him as someone who could be a friend more than someone who was a father”.
