Motown Legend Martha Reeves Gets Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
Music icon Martha Reeves finally received her long-awaited star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in an emotional ceremony on Wednesday.
The 82-year-old Detroit native, known for her powerful vocals with Martha and the Vandellas, was celebrated by Motown colleagues Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson and Berry Gordy.
Reeves’ star is the 2,776th on the Walk of Fame and sits alongside fellow Motown greats like The Supremes, The Temptations, and The Miracles.

The ceremony highlighted Reeves’ six-decade career, including iconic hits like “Dancing in the Street” and “Heat Wave.” Wonder praised her for spreading love through music, while Gordy called her “raw, real, and sassy.”
Reeves’ journey to the Walk of Fame wasn’t easy. Nominated in 2021, she and her team launched a successful crowdfunding campaign to meet the star’s funding deadline.
The ceremony also acknowledged Reeves’ civic contributions, mentioning her time as a Detroit City Council member.
Reeves, clearly thrilled, thanked her Detroit roots and Motown family for their unwavering support. A celebratory reception followed the ceremony, with a Detroit celebration planned for April.
