Starlink, is a space or the satellite based internet service by SpaceX. Starlink has rebranded its RV packages as Starlink Roam. The service this Starlink now offers provides access to the internet from almost anywhere on their continent.

Starlink is available in two packages:

  1. A regional access plan for $150 per month
  2. A global plan for $200 (rs 16,600) per month

Users can choose a portable antenna on the price of $599 or they can also choose an in – motion antenna for $2,500, like the RV packages.

Starlink, also introduced the Roam Subscription as a solution for those users who face unavailable or unreliable internet connectivity. The Roam Subscription can be resumed or paused at any time and the billing will be occurring in one – month increments.

In the month of February, Starlink users received messages about “THE NEW GLOBAL ROAMING SERVICE”, which has now replaced the RV packages. However, the details of the new global service remain unclear. An email has sent to the customers according to which, the brief periods of poor or no connectivity will be included in the roam service.

The FAQ page for Starlink Roam states that the new global service is only available in those countries which are available on the Starlink map. The company is still awaiting for approval from some countries, including India, Pakistan, and Cambodia for the access of Starlink. In an interview with the Financial Times, Elon Musk has made it clear that the China has disapproved the recent rollout of Starlink.

During Ukraine war, Ukraine’s military used the Starlink to guide drones and strike Russian tanks and positions.

For those, seeking internet access at sea, Starlink already has a plan for them of $500 per month. Till now, more than 25 Countries are using Starlink and more than 2.5 lakh customers are connected to it.
