Five Minors of the same family lost their lives in a fiery crash
  • A  9 year old boy survived the accident, after a sixteen year old teenage driver veered off the road.
  • But unfortunately five minors of the same family lost their lives

SCARSDALE, Westchester county (WABC) – Five young people of the same family lost their lives in a fiery crash on the Hutchinson River. Their vehicle got struck by a tree and took the lives of five young family members, in Scarsdale, early Sunday, according to the Wetchester county police. 

A 9 – year – old boy was the sole survivor, who was taken to Westchester Medical Center, with injuries that were not life – threatening. “He was riding in the rear hatchback area of the Nissan Rogue that crashed and escaped out the rear,” according to the Westchester county Police Department.

The driver of the vehicle was 16 – year – old boy, who may have fallen asleep and the ages of the five dead – children (one female and four male) were between 8 to 17.  The Superintendent of the Public School in Derby, Connecticut, Matt Conway, said that the all children were from one family that recently moved from New York to New Haven County Community which is described as “Connecticut’s smallest city”. 

Conway said he reached out to the father of the children on Sunday. He further added, “It’s the unimaginable tragedy as you could ever think of. To bury five of your children all at once is a very difficult thing for anyone,” Mr. Conway said.

The family of the children talks to the Eyewitness News were they said, that the six siblings and cousins were heading Derby, from a mall when their vehicle veered off the Hutchinson River in Scarsdale, on Sunday before 12:30 a.m. 

The site were the car crashed, on Sunday is not known for accidents, the Police said. In the car crash, which took place in Scarsdale no other vehicle was involved. The car burst into flames when it got hit by a tree on the North of the Mamaroneck Road exit. And from the North of Scarsdale, Derby is roughly 50 miles (80km) away.
