Functional Mushrooms Can Lower Risk of Death

Mushrooms Can Lower Risk of Death

We all love to have mushrooms in our diet and nowadays after the research that mushrooms can lower risk of death, they have become a new health trend.

Research in 2021 has found that mushroom has nutritional values which are very important and can be anti-aging for our body. Functional mushrooms amongst all the mushroom varieties are more significant in increasing the longevity of humans.

Some of the researchers also say that mushrooms can help in reducing diabetes and can control sugar. Certain mushrooms can even protect you from memory loss, brain shrinkage, and other health issues. Mushrooms are a high source of protein and fiber hence many prefer mushrooms and have replaced their meals with mushrooms instead of meat.

There are top three mushrooms which are considered the best mushrooms with such medical properties such as:

  • Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum)
  • Cordyceps (Cordyceps militaris)
  • Chaga (Inonotus obliquus)

These are the rare type of mushrooms found but, they have the highest medicinal properties.

Researcher have found that, around 15000 regular consumers of mushrooms were picked who consumed mushrooms for nearly 20 years and 16% were found with lower death risks. The scientists noted: “Mushroom consumption was associated with a lower risk of total mortality in the nationally representative sample of US adults.”

It was observed that just one meal in a day with mushrooms instead of meat can reduce the risk of mortality by almost 35%. Also, it was further noted that mushrooms have immunity and energy-boosting vitamins that can further add to your health which was quoted by Matt Keller the founder of functional mushrooms.

He added: “This doesn’t apply to all mushrooms, however, the term ‘functional mushrooms’ refers to the mushrooms celebrated for their health benefits beyond their nutritional composition.”

“For example, the Chaga mushroom is also known as the immunity mushroom because numerous studies have documented its valuable role in activating the immune system, fighting harmful bacteria, and inhibiting the growth of viruses,” noted Mr. Kelly.

Then the other mushroom is the brain mushroom which helps to enhance the brain after being digested and is also said to have reduced risk of Alzheimer’s.

It is also said that some mushrooms have the power to protect nerve cells and are also said to be adaptogenic. Adaptogenic mushrooms are said to have stress-relieving properties. Apart from all these certain mushrooms can also enhance your skin health and make you look anti-aging too.

Thus, we can conclude that to stay fit and healthy and to live longer we have to incorporate mushrooms into our diet. Further, there are various methods of cooking mushrooms to make them part of our diet like having smoothies and protein shakes containing mushrooms, Mushroom powders, etc., and other ways of food preparation for lunch dinner, or breakfast, etc.
