Pillowfort Weighted Blankets Recalled

In North Carolina, more than 200,000 Pillowfort weighted blankets are recalled by the Target Store which was already sold to retailers since 2018.

The blankets were of Pillowfort brand which is a brand of interiors and products for kids. They have a variety of kids’ products such as pillows, covers, and blankets. These products are found at Target’s stores.

There have been cases of children being trapped inside the blankets of this brand recently. Two girls have been reported to have died due to asphyxiation or suffocation due to lack of oxygen.

This happened when the kids unzipped the blanket and entered them causing the risk of suffocation after being trapped inside them. These weighted blankets are said to be 6 pounds in weight and measure 40-60 inches wide.

The Target Stores have immediately decided to take the action against the products by returning back up to 200,000 weighted pillows which were available at the store since December 2018. Apart from the death of the 2 girls of age 4 and 6 there have been total of 4 cases reported to the store by the customers of the weighted pillows proving to be dangerous to the children.

The stores and the Consumer Product Safety Commission have appealed to customers to recall the product any brought earlier.

It is to be considered while buying any such product especially related to children we must look after their safety first and make it a point to report the issues if any to the company on time. Parents and authorities should be more careful while promoting such products and keeping them in the market.
