£27m to Convert Rubbish into Jet Fuel

Velocys is a company that works on sustainable fuel projects. One such project handled by a plant of Velocys in Immingham has been awarded £27m to Convert Rubbish into Jet Fuel and it will be producing 3,00,000 tones of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) a year.

Similarly, another project received funding of £2.5 million for the SAF plant which used carbon capture and hydrogen with the help of renewable electric energy.

It was expected that the project named Atalto would be Europe’s first commercial-scale waste conversion to fuel projects. Mark Harper transport secretary said it feels good that “guilt-free-flying” has become reality because of the waste of fuel technology.

The chief executive of Velocys expressed his gratitude for gaining grants for 2 fuel projects from the Department of Transport’s Advanced Fuels Fund. The grants would help them to work more on accelerating their efforts on commercial levels in the UK. Further, the department has also confirmed that there will be 5 more projects that will take fuel energy 60 times ahead with the efforts of the company.
