Schwellenbach, making his fourth career start, delivered a strong performance. Over six innings, he surrendered only one run on three hits while striking out seven batters. The lone blemish came in the sixth when Riley Greene tripled and later scored on a single.
Detroit starter Casey Mize struggled with control, throwing 87 pitches in just four innings. He allowed two runs on five hits despite striking out three. Two errors by his teammates extended innings and made his outing even more challenging.

The Tigers’ bullpen was lights-out in relief, combining for four scoreless innings with no hits or walks. However, their efforts weren’t enough to overcome the early deficit. This loss extends Detroit’s one-run defeat streak in June to four games, dropping their record below .500 for the first time this season.
The series concludes on Wednesday afternoon with a pitching matchup between Tarik Skubal (8-2, 2.20 ERA) for Detroit and Reynaldo Lopez (4-2, 1.69 ERA) for Atlanta. Skubal will look to bounce back from a rough outing in Houston, while Lopez continues to impress after signing a surprising three-year deal with the Braves. The right-hander has been dominant this season, allowing a mere 13 earned runs in over 69 innings.
