Four Inmates Escape from Georgia Jail
Four Inmates Who Escaped Georgia Jail

On Monday, four inmates, one of whom was being held for murder, escaped from the Bibb County Detention Center in Georgia. The inmates made their escape by breaking out of the oldest section of the jail through a damaged window at around 3 a.m. They also cut through a fence before fleeing, presumably together, in a blue Dodge Challenger, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The four escapees have been identified as:

  1. Joey Fournier, aged 52
  2. Chavis Stokes, aged 29
  3. Marc K. Anderson, aged 25
  4. Johnifer Barnwell, aged 37

These individuals were detained on various charges, including murder and drug trafficking. It is unclear whether they are still together, as Sheriff David Davis mentioned that they may not have had prior associations outside of the jail. However, it’s known that they had some form of association within the detention center.

The escape took place when there were fewer than 10 employees on duty at the jail, which houses around 800 inmates. Additionally, many sections of the jail are reported to be old and in disrepair.

Sheriff Davis has warned schools in the area about the escape and noted that three of the inmates have had previous interactions with the criminal justice system, suggesting that they should be considered dangerous. Law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and U.S. Marshals Office, are involved in the manhunt. A $1,000 reward has been offered for tips leading to the arrest of each inmate.

Sheriff Davis expressed confidence in the capture of the escaped inmates, stating that they will eventually return to the jail. Authorities have asked the public to provide information about the inmates’ whereabouts or the vehicle they escaped in by contacting the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
