Andre Gordon, 26, is in custody after a violent rampage that left three people dead in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The ordeal began early Saturday when Gordon, reportedly homeless, carjacked a vehicle in Trenton and drove to Levittown, Pennsylvania. There, he allegedly shot and killed his stepmother (52) and his teenage sister (13). Three others, including a child, hid successfully as he searched the house.

Gordon then traveled to a nearby residence, forced his way in, and fatally shot a 25-year-old woman, the mother of his children, before assaulting her mother. He then carjacked another person and fled across state lines back to Trenton.

Authorities believed Gordon was armed and dangerous, barricaded inside a Trenton house. After a tense standoff, SWAT teams evacuated residents and appealed to Gordon to surrender.

Surprisingly, Gordon was later found walking freely on a Trenton street and apprehended by a patrol officer. He apparently escaped the house before police fully secured the perimeter.

Federal and local authorities are working together to investigate the motive behind the attacks. Gordon has a minor criminal history, but nothing that suggested such violence.

The tragic events forced the cancellation of a local St. Patrick’s Day parade and the closure of a nearby amusement park.
